Looking to set in your roots in a fine living experience in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area? Many people are, and with all the things Myrtle Beach has to offer as a community, who'd blame them? One of the most impressive development areas of Myrtle Beach is the area around Murrells Inlet. Originally a key part of the economy, because of its access ways to the waterways and lakes that allowed easy access to the ocean, and with plentiful water for growing irrigation intensive crops like rice, this part of the greater Myrtle Beach area is rich in history, and beautiful scenery.
One of the most beautiful areas of Murrell's Inlet is Abaco Cove. Sited near the bluffs that define the western edge of the Intracoastal Waterway area, Abaco Cove transitioned from an agricultural producer to a fishing boat hostel in the 1880s, before being bought up as a summer vacation manor in the early 20th century.
Since then, the estate has slowly been parceled off to developers as land values have risen, and one of the newest developments is Abaco Cove, at the headlands and near the bluff. With scenic vistas that let you see the salt marshlands that are famous throughout the South, Abaco Cove makes its presence known in well constructed, modern houses with well lit exteriors and integral breeze ways as climate controlled systems. Most are built from brick, and a number have passive solar elements built in to them to help keep out the November chill.
Roughly half the homes built in this development were built custom for their owners, and many are extensively landscaped and tailored to blend in with the light scrub oak and riverine bluffs. The houses have a sense of exclusion and privacy and warmth that has to be seen first hand to be understood. It's very easy to see yourself enjoying an evening on a rocking glider watching the sunset and the birds.
For getting out of the house, Abaco Cove is adjacent to Wachesaw Plantation Golf Club, and two other world class courses are a short drive away. If you want more than golf, Myrtle Beach's famous Atlantic Strand beaches, letting you kick off your shoes and enjoy the sun, or romantic walks as the tide comes in. On to Myrtle Beach proper, there are the full range of cultural activities available, from repertory theater to Harley Davidson festivals.
If you're looking to make Myrtle Beach your home - either as your retirement home, or as a place to raise your kids and take advantage of our excellent public school districts, consider Abaco Cove. Pricing starts in the low three hundred thousands, with top end properties running a bit over a million.
